A native of Ottawa, Kan., Lee received his CDL training at MTC in St. Louis, Mo. Before becoming a driver with TMC, Lee served in the Army for four years and is currently a member of the Kansas Army National Guard. During his active duty, Lee spent three years in Germany and one year in Afghanistan.
“Congratulations to Kyle Lee and to all of TMC’s Trucking’s Top Rookie Finalists,” comments Duane Boswell, Vice President of Recruiting. “Kyle Lee, Kevin Smith and Dan A’Zaire Snow all did TMC very proud by placing in the top ten finalists group. They are great examples of new drivers who were attracted to the trucking industry because of the substantial opportunity to support their families and personal dreams. Kyle took the big prize, winning Top Rookie honors and bringing tears of joy to his wife Kayla at the awards ceremony. We share in her pride and joy and are confident that Kyle will represent our industry well as it seeks to attract many more high quality people like Kyle.
“A special thanks to the wonderful spouses of these men; Kayla Lee, Samantha Snow and Deborah Smith are all great examples of supportive spouses who contribute immeasurably to the ability of these drivers to succeed in their new careers,” continues Boswell.
“Being recognized as Trucking’s Top Rookie was a huge honor,” says Kyle Lee. “This program is great and let me and the other nominees know that the trucking industry cares about us. I was very fortunate to get a great start with my CDL training at MTC and find a supportive, family-friendly company in TMC. I feel so blessed to have won this award.”
The Trucking's Top Rookie contest was created by Randall-Reilly Recruiting Media to highlight the opportunities in the truck driving profession and promote the truck driving career choice during a severe shortage of drivers. Carriers were asked to nominate their top rookie who had graduated from a PTDI certified, or NAPFTDS- or CVTA-member driver training school within the past year and had been employed by their trucking company for less than one year. Nominees were judged on their safety performance, customer service and achievements within their organization.
